Dear Wave Team,
I’ll be honest — I wasn’t born into football culture. But since 2021, I’ve been fully immersed in it, thanks to Peter Berg (yes, Friday Night Lights Peter). I spent three years working closely with him, and it’s impossible to come out of that experience without falling in love with the game. For two of those years, I produced an unscripted series embedded with Jim Irsay (rest in peace) and the Indianapolis Colts — capturing everything from game day and the Draft to personal storylines and locker room moments. Irsay was a polarizing figure, no doubt, but he brought something original to the world of football — and I was lucky enough to help shape how that story was told.
That said, my heart still belongs to the 49ers (Bay Area born and raised). My football tradition? I post up at Barney’s Beanery with my fiancé, order way too much food, and yell at the screen like I have a headset on. I may not claim encyclopedic knowledge of every college or NFL stat, but I know the sport well — and more importantly, I know how to produce compelling, character-driven stories that connect with fans.
I’ve been working in production for nearly 20 years (still get ID’d, by the way), across a wild range of formats: YouTube content (BookTube Jr., influencer series, Fitbit/Google), digital series (Disney), podcasts, social-first campaigns, unscripted shows, branded content, commercial shoots, and films. I’ve worked with big production houses, small newsrooms and podcast operations, networks, and one-hit wonders — and through it all, I’ve stayed adaptable, loyal, and hardworking. I can walk into any production — studio or field — and get things moving, creatively and operationally. I’m proactive, resourceful, and thrive in fast-moving environments with strong POVs and even stronger deadlines.
I also genuinely admire and relate to Wave’s five core values — Simplify and Get It Done, Master Your Craft, Practice Hospitality, Be Direct, and Fearlessly Pursue New Ideas. That mindset aligns with how I work: I’m constantly curious and always learning (last week I was deep-diving into copyright law for media), I don’t believe in wasting time or dancing around feedback, I make it a priority to take care of my team, and I’m never afraid to try something new — it’s the only way to figure out what works (and what doesn’t).
Wave’s football content has changed the game for how the sport lives online — and I’d love to contribute to the next evolution of that work. Thank you for considering me.
Warmly,
Jeanette Aguilar
